- Redesigned airframe: laminar-flow wing with larger tanks, enlarged tailplane, rounded tips, more nose glazing, flush side positions, Kasei 21 or 25 engines with four-blade VDM propellers, electric dorsal turret with a 20 mm Type 99. First flown in December 1942, in production from July 1943 to June 1945. Experimental Models 25, 26 and 27 tested other Kasei versions.
